Crime and Thriller Fest Set to Thrill Moulton This June

Moulton Library is preparing for a week of suspense, intrigue and unforgettable storytelling as it hosts its first Crime and Thriller Fest, running from Monday 15th June to Saturday 20th June. The festival promises an exciting programme of talks, performances and interactive events featuring acclaimed authors, fascinating experts and live theatre.

The week opens with a fascinating evening featuring Adrian Perkins and the Ghost Detective team. Blending crime investigation with the mysterious world of the paranormal, this special talk will explore ghosts and spirits, parapsychology, and historical research. Drawing on real investigations and case studies, the team will take audiences behind the scenes of their work tracking unexplained phenomena and uncovering hidden stories from the past. It promises to be a captivating start to the festival.

Book lovers will also have the rare opportunity to hear from Martin Davies, who will deliver a unique and highly visual talk exploring how books get their covers – and why those covers matter. With a nod to classic crime titles as well as modern thrillers, Martin will reveal the creative thinking, design decisions and publishing secrets behind the covers that make readers pick up a book in the first place. Anyone who has ever judged a book by its cover will find this talk both entertaining and eye-opening.

Another highlight of the week is Forensic Deep Dive with Professor Graeme Yorston, a gripping exploration of the psychology behind crime. Professor Yorston will guide audiences through real forensic cases and the complex psychological factors that can lie behind criminal behaviour. This powerful talk will examine how the mind works in extreme circumstances and why some individuals cross the line into criminal acts. Please note that the evening will include discussion of sensitive topics and some graphic material.

For those who enjoy their crime stories with plenty of audience participation, the Laugh Out Loud Theatre Company will bring the festival to life with a live Murder Mystery Evening. Guests will become detectives for the night as they attempt to solve the crime, question suspects and piece together clues. Expect twists, laughter and plenty of surprises in this interactive theatrical experience.

Adding even more star power to the festival are bestselling thriller writers John Marrs and Darren O’Sullivan, whose joint appearance has already proved hugely popular, with tickets selling out quickly. Both authors are known for their gripping, page-turning novels and it is a testament to the growing reputation of the festival that such well-known names are taking part.

Organisers say they feel incredibly fortunate to welcome such a talented line-up of authors, performers and experts to Moulton.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the programme,” a spokesperson for Moulton Library said. “To have writers like John Marrs and Darren O’Sullivan alongside fascinating speakers such as Adrian Perkins, Martin Davies and Professor Yorston, plus the brilliant Laugh Out Loud Theatre Company, makes this a really special week for our community.”

With a mix of thought-provoking talks, behind-the-scenes publishing insight, paranormal investigations and live theatre, the Crime and Thriller Fest promises something for every fan of mystery and suspense.

Tickets for the remaining events are expected to sell quickly and are available from Moulton Library and online.

Crime fans are encouraged to book early and join the excitement as Moulton prepares for a week where mystery, murder and thrilling stories take centre stage.
