Wirral Libraries look forward to hosting these fabulous authors in a month long celebration of fantastic crime writing.
Gina Kirkham, was born on the Wirral in the not so swinging 50’s. She grew up to be a Police Officer and when she retired, she took to writing. Her best-selling books include feisty sleuths Mavis Upton and Prunella Pearce both of whom solve murders using their wit, grit, determination with perhaps just a few comical mishaps along the way. Gina’s characters are truly national treasures, join Gina for a night of laughter as we discover what truly inspires her.
David Jackson is the author of numerous internationally published crime novels. His debut novel, Pariah, was Highly Commended in the Crime Writers’ Association Debut Dagger Awards. Cry Baby was nominated by Amazon as one of their Best Books of the Year. In his spare time, David hosts writing courses and is an academic at Liverpool University. He lives with his wife, children, and cat Mr. Tumnus.
Luca Veste novels are described as terrifying, with just a splash of scouse humour. His debut novel was described as “Gripping, unpredictable, genuinely shocking and impossible to put down, Dead Gone… a remarkable début.” (Steve Mosby) Luca has studied psychology and criminology at Liverpool University and when he’s not writing, he plays bass for Fun Lovin’ Crime Writers.
TM Logan’s thrillers have sold more than two million copies in the UK and are translated into 22 other languages. Five of his novels have been Sunday Times bestsellers and two of them – THE HOLIDAY and THE CATCH – have been adapted for television. A former national newspaper journalist, Tim now writes novels full-time, and lives in Nottinghamshire with his family. His new book is THE WEEKEND is out now.
Dr. Kathryn Harkup is a former chemist turned writer and science communicator. She is interested in all things gothic, gory and geeky. She has written many books outlining the crossovers between science, literature and pop culture including The Secret Lives of the Elements, The Secret Lives of Molecules, A is for Arsenic: The Poisons of Agatha Christie, Making the Monster: The Science of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Death by Shakespeare. Her latest book is V is for Venom: Agatha Christie’s Chemicals of Death
Simon McCleave is a multimillion-selling crime novelist and screenwriter, originally from London, he now lives in North Wales with his wife and two children. Before writing novels, Simon worked in London and LA in the TV and film industries, working on films such as The Full Monty, and series including Silent Witness, The Bill, Murder in Suburbia and many more. Simon’s bestselling DI Ruth Hunter series is now set to become a major television drama, with filming of Snowdonia due to begin in autumn 2025.
